My mother-in-law taught me this trick to clean grey dust and grime off window blinds before opening the house for spring with 0 effort. Here’s how it works

  1. make the job harder

The biggest mistake is using too much liquid. If the cloth is dripping, you’ll leave streaks, collect grime in the corners, and possibly damage wood blinds. The cloth should feel just barely damp to the touch.

Another mistake is scrubbing back and forth aggressively. That usually pushes dust off the slats and onto the sill or carpet. I also avoid strong all-purpose cleaners unless I’m dealing with something specific, because they can leave a residue that actually attracts more dust later.
